The New Masjid Project

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SUPERIMPOSED OVER A PICTURE OF THE EXISTING LAND

Why we need a new masjid?
Alhamdullilah, the Muslim community of Fort Collins has experienced dramatic growth since its humble beginnings as a small student group in the 1970’s. The current Islamic Center:
  • is too small to accommodate our current student and resident population,
  • threatens the lives of the sisters and children that use its deteriorating basement for prayer,
  • can not be expanded to meet the current and future needs of the community.
In addition, because the Fort Collins/northern Colorado area is one of the most desirable and rapidly expanding places to live in the U.S., we anticipate that the Muslim community will continue to grow and diversify. A proper masjid and Islamic Center would strengthen the northern Colorado ummah by providing a safe, spacious, inspirational building for prayer, education, outreach, and community activities.
History of the New Masjid Project

1998: Purchase 3.1 acre parcel of land at 925 West Lake Street, Ft. Collins
2000-2003: Create conceptual plans for three-phased project (masjid, gymnasium, school)
2007: Path-finding Committee concludes that building a new masjid will best meet the current and future needs of the Fort Collins ummah. Click here to see the Path-finding Committee final report.
